The True Living Experience

True Living Old Karoo Deli & Restaurant in Cradock is a warm, farm-style eatery founded by My Kitchen Rules SA semi-finalist
Lani Lombard. Located on Albert Street, it serves hearty Karoo classics like venison pie, roosterkoek, and homemade breads, all made with fresh, organic ingredients. With its cozy interiors, garden seating, and a small deli offering local goods, True Living is a beloved stop for both locals and travelers seeking authentic Karoo hospitality.

Karoo Farm Box

Karoo Farm Box is a family-owned business, started by mom Lani Lombard, daughter Louzel Steyn and son-in-law & husband Louis Steyn. The trio has their roots planted in the beautiful Midlands Karoo in the small Eastern Cape town of Cradock.

As farming folk, they know the quality and value of the Karoo and want to share it with the rest of the world.

True Living

True Living, a Karoo Old Deli began in November 2012, a dream come true for Lani. It was during this time that everything fell into place, bringing her vision to life. More than just a restaurant, True Living is a heartfelt celebration of Karoo flavors, hospitality, and tradition—a place where good food and warm company come together in an inviting, nostalgic setting.

Lani & Louzel

After their incredible journey to the semi-finals on My Kitchen Rules, Lani and her daughter Louzel turned their passion for food into something truly special. They introduced Farm-to-Table Experiences, where guests can enjoy immersive cooking lessons paired with a garden walk, sourcing fresh ingredients straight from the earth. Their love for authentic, homegrown flavors continues to inspire every dish at True Living – Karoo Old Deli.
